A Mink lives the highlife in Brighton Marina

Written by Jack on 7 November 2008

It’s a tough life being a mink, and from finding enough fish to survive, to evading capture from angry boat owners – who can begrudge the cheeky creatures the opportunity to live the high life every now and then?

Well, Elliot and Andrea Maurice for two apparently, and after a particularly hardy Mink boarded their £100,000 yatch, left a trail of droppings and munched through hundreds of pounds worth of equipment – they’re on the warpath.

Fervently hoping that the animal has swum off to pastures new, they have nonetheless set the traps should be back on board again any time soon.

Apparently there is no boat insurance that covers third party, fire and mink.

So keep an eye out next time your in Brighton Marina – has anyone else seen a mink sneaking about the boats moored there?

Watch Bournemouth live on cam!

Written by Sharon on 15 October 2008

Our Brighton webcam was down for over a week due to technical issues that I can’t personally get my head around - but I’m happy to announce that it’s back up and running at www.itvlocal.com/meridian/live.

Brighton live 1.40pm, 15 October

We’ve had lots of queries about the downtime from locals and Brighton expats alike - it’s a really popular view. Personally, as a fairly regular Brighton daytripper, I associate the pier and beach with good times and like to log in now and then just to take in the unique Brighton vibe.

The good news is that during the downtime, we pressed forward with getting a second regional beachcam up and running - this time in Bournemouth. It’s up today for the first time - have a look at the default view on www.itvlocal.com/meridian/live to see it, I’m afraid today’s weather is looking a bit overcast but the waves aren’t too rough for October.

Bournemouth cam

By clicking on the right-hand menu from our live cams page, you can see the whole network of ITV Local regional webcams, all over England and Wales. There are some real gems in there - Newquay harbour is one of my favourites, and everyone loves Gorillacam - live from the ape enclosure at Bristol Zoo. so if you’re bored with the view from your window, check out the live views in full screen. It’s cheaper than a train ticket!

Angry Baroness on eco-town rampage

Written by Guest blogger on 1 July 2008

Political Editor Phil Hornby blogs from Parliament

Those eco-town protesters, from places like Ford in West Sussex, were certainly noisy when they were lobbying Parliament.

So noisy, that one Baroness (who will remain nameless) was disturbed in her office, wanted to find out what was going on, and was determined to put an end to the rumpus.

She came out of the House of Lords, and was about to berate the protesters about the noise they were making, when she saw that most of them were her friends.

She lives near Ford, and has been an active member of their campaign. So she cancelled her complaint, picked up a placard, and joined in!

You can watch Phil’s eco-town report here.
